The Feast of Sacrifice, Eid al Adha, symbolizes devotion and gratitude to God. On Sunday Muslims from all over the world are preparing to celebrate this holiday with an animal sacrifice.

Eid is the second great festival for Muslims after Eid al Fitr, in which the faithful remember Ibrahim or Abraham who always worshipped Allah without intermediaries or associates, he received through his dreams an order to sacrifice his son.
According to the Quran, Ibrahim and his son submitted to the will of God and were ready to perform the sacrifice as an act of faith and obedience.
Seeing the faith of these, God sent a lamb from heaven to be sacrificed in place of the son of Ibrahim, according to Islamic tradition.
For Muslims this holiday is an ode to faith, generosity and good will as Eid al Adha gives muslims another opportunity for charity. The meat of any sacrificied animal is shared with the poor, relatives and friends.
The faithful can sacrifice a sheep, a goat or a lamb on their own, while a cow or a camel can share it among seven people. It is also forbidden to sacrifice sick, disabled or injured animals.Islam also requires that the sacrifice be minimally painful for the animal and one is even careful not to sharpen the knife in front of the animal or sacrifice another in front of it.
After the sacrifice, the lamb or sheep parts are used to prepare typical dishes such as boulfaf or douara stew. Between meals, family and friends gather and wish a “Happy EÃd”.
